Maintenance

Our rugs require little maintenance. A Millenerpoort rug can be vacuumed with a normal vacuum cleaner and we recommend using the smooth base. Depending on the material of your rug, the following properties apply:

Wool

Depending on the chosen pile composition, a wool rug can fluff. This can be prevented by vacuuming regularly. Do not use rotating brushes: they can adversely affect the structure of the threads used in your rug.

Linen

Please note that a rug made with linen threads has less sturdiness than a rug made out of piles containing woolen threads. In a pile composition with both Linen and Wool threads, the linen threads can retract between the woolen threads. If your rug consists out of 100% linen threads the piles will, wherever your rug is walked upon the most, will become flattened over time. 

Eucalyptus (Tencel)

Our Salina rugs are made of Tencel® yarn, a natural thread made from the cellulose of Eucalyptus wood. 

Removing stains

Oops, spilled something? No worries; the following guidelines for removing stains will help you get your Millenerpoort rug as good as new:

• Remove the stain as quickly as possible, preferably immediately;

• Scrape away as much of the spilled substance as possible with a spoon or a dull knife. It is important to scrape from the edge inwards: this way you will not make the stain bigger;

• Then dab the stain with a cloth or absorbent paper.
  Please note: Do not rub or scrub!

• Remove the stain with some lukewarm water and carpet shampoo or dry foam. 
  Please note: This does not apply to our Salina (Eucalyptus) rugs. Only use the product "James vlekkenspray" and consult the "vlekkenschijf".

• Do not let the stain get too wet, because this can cause permanent damage to your rug;

• Do not use detergents with bleaching agents;

• Always try any detergents or solvents on a corner of the rug which is not (very) visible;

• The "vlekkenschijf" is a useful tool: Select the stain that applies to your situation and follow the instructions. The products vlekkenspray and vlekkenwonder are often used.

Is the rug still in need of cleaning? Then call a professional company that specializes in cleaning rugs and carpets.

Shading

Shading is a very uncommon phenomenon: due to a (changed) direction of the pile, there appears to be a stain in the rug, while there is none. It has nothing to do with the production of the rug. If it should be replaced by another rug, the shading will (often) occur in the same place again. Complaints and/or warranty requests about shading will therefore not be accepted.

Warranty

Are you not satisfied with the quality of your rug? Don't worry: we will be happy to help you. Contact the reseller where you purchased your Millenerpoort rug and they will start the warranty application.

Millenerpoort complies with the CBW warranty provisions. In addition, Millenerpoort provides a 5-year warranty on any manufacturing defects (through our reseller network).
